Frequently Asked Questions
Do I need to be injured?
No. Performance Physical Therapy isn't only for injuries. It can help identify limitations in mobility, movement, strength, and control that may be affecting how you train or perform.
Can this improve my running?
Yes. We can evaluate how your feet, ankles, knees, hips, pelvis, and trunk work together during movement and identify opportunities to improve running mechanics, efficiency, and performance.
Do you work with competitive athletes?
Yes. We work with athletes and active individuals across a range of sports and performance levels. Care is tailored to the specific demands of your sport, training, and goals.
-
Can you help me prepare for HYROX?
-
Yes. Performance PT can address the mobility, strength, movement efficiency, and durability required for running and HYROX-specific movements while helping identify limitations that may affect performance.
-
Can I continue training?
-
In many cases, yes. Rather than automatically stopping training, we look for ways to modify load, volume, intensity, or specific movements when necessary so you can continue working toward your goals while addressing the underlying limitation.
How long is an evaluation?
Your initial Performance Physical Therapy Evaluation is approximately 60 minutes. This allows us to thoroughly understand your symptoms, evaluate how your body moves, identify the root cause of your condition, and develop a personalized treatment plan tailored to your goals.
Do I need a referral?
In most cases, no referral is required to begin Physical Therapy. If your condition requires additional medical evaluation or collaboration with another healthcare provider, we'll guide you through the appropriate next steps.
Do you accept insurance?
Human Function & Performance is a cash-based, out-of-network practice. This allows us to provide one-on-one care, longer appointment times, and personalized treatment plans without many of the restrictions imposed by insurance companies.
We can provide a detailed receipt (superbill) that you may submit to your insurance provider for potential out-of-network reimbursement.
How many visits will I need?
Every individual is different. Your plan of care depends on your condition, goals, activity level, and how your body responds to treatment.
Following your evaluation, we'll discuss our recommendations and create a personalized plan designed to help you recover efficiently while working toward long-term results.
What should I wear?
Wear comfortable clothing that allows you to move freely. Athletic or workout attire is ideal, and athletic shoes are recommended if movement or walking assessments will be performed.
Can I come without pain?
Absolutely. Physical Therapy isn't only for injuries.
Many people visit us to improve movement quality, prevent future injuries, address mobility limitations, or prepare for specific activities and sports before pain ever develops.
Can athletes benefit?
Absolutely. We work with athletes and active individuals of all levels—from recreational fitness enthusiasts to competitive athletes.
Our approach focuses on optimizing movement, improving performance, reducing injury risk, and helping you return to your sport stronger and more confident.
What makes Human Function & Performance different?
At Human Function & Performance, we don't just treat where it hurts—we identify why it hurts. Every evaluation begins with understanding how your body moves, functions, and performs so we can address the underlying cause of your symptoms rather than simply treating them. Our goal is to help you move better, function better, perform better, and stay active for the long term.
